x = 3/2 y=5

Explanation:

4x + 3y = 21

4x + 2y = 16

Subtract the two equations

4x + 3y = 21

-4x - 2y = -16

-----------------------

y = 5

Now find x

4x+3y = 21

4x +3(5) = 2a

4x+15 = 21

Subtract 15

4x = 6

Divide by 4

4x/4 = 6/4

x =3/2
