x=-1 and y=7

Explanation:

let s solve the system of equations

(1) 13x+2y=1

(2) 5x-2y=-19

let s do (1) + (2)

13x+2y+5x-2y=1-19=-18

<=>

18x=-18

<=>

x=-1

so x = -1

and then we replace x in (1) it comes

-13+2y=1

<=>

2y-1=1+13=14

<=>

y = 14/2=7

so y =7
