They are perpendicular 1/4 is the reciprocal to 4

They are perpendicular because 1/4 is the opposite reciprocal of 4.
4/1 flipped over is 1/4 which is the slope of both. That means that if the number is the opposite reciprocal, and it’s on the slope, then the 2 lines are perpendicular.
