POSITIVE

3-x = 8

x = 3-8 = -5

NEGATIVE

-(3-x) = 8

-3 + x = 8

x = 8+3 = 11

We get 2 solutions to an absolute value, one positive and one negative

3-x =8 3-x = -8

Subtract 3 from each side

3-x-3 = 8-3 3-x-3=-8-3

-x =5 -x = -11

Multiply by -1
