Apollo 8 was the first mission to bring humans to the moon. It lifted off on December 21, 1968. It carried Frank Borman, Jim Lovell and Bill Anders.

The spacecraft went to the moon, orbited the moon without landing, and returned to Earth.

Neil Armstrong was, of course, the first human to STEP on the moon. But several other people TRAVELED TO THE MOON before he did.
