Modern cities are often designed in a grid pattern that aligns with north/south and east/west directions. In the city of Newtonia each block is 167 m long. If you were to walk east for 4 blocks than south for 3 blocks, how far in meters did you actually walk

Answer:

1169 Meters

Explanation:

Length of Each Block =167 meters

If you walked 4 blocks east, Distance Covered =4 X 167 =668 meters

If you walked 3 blocks south, Distance Covered =3 X 167 =501 meters

Therefore, the total distance walked

=668+501

=1169 Meters

Remark: Note that we are required to calculate distance walked not displacement from the starting point.
