Answer:

Ok so I took the major events and lined them up since there are no answers to work with

Step-by-step explanation:

1. Soviet Union begins a war with Afghanistan (1979-89)

2. Reforms such as glasnost and perestroika instituted in Soviet Union (1985)

3. Mikhail Gorbachev becomes the President of the Soviet Union in 1990 (should be noted that he was General Secretary from 1985-1990 when he became President)

4. Soviet government attempts to overthrow Mikhail Gorbachev (1991-The August Coup: lasted 3 days)

5. Soviet Union dissolves and Gorbachev resigned (Dec 1991)

5. Boris Yeltsin becomes president of the established Russian Federation (1991-99) and transforms Russian economic system to a Capitalist Market, and moves Russia to a Representative democracy.

Last, in the Soviet Union, the failed August Coup in 1991 led to the end of the Communist party in USSR. All of these events led to the end of communism and the making of a democratic Russia. 1982-1991- President of USSR. Hope it helps
