Answer:

n = - 5

Explanation:

Using the rules of exponents

a^(m) ×
a^(n)
a^((m+n))

(a^(m) )/(a^(n) )
a^((m-n))

Consider the left side

(y^4.y^(n) )/(y^2)

=
(y^(4+n) )/(y^2)

=
y^(4+n-2)

=
y^(2+n), then

y^(2+n) =
y^(-3)

Since the bases on both sides are the same, equate the exponents

2 + n = - 3 ( subtract 2 from both sides )

n = - 5
