What is the solutions of x2 = –5x + 8?

x=√(14.25) -2.5, x=-√(14.25)-2.5

Explanation:

Since moving it to one side can't be factored, I'm going to complete the square.


x^2+5x=8


x^2+5x+6.25=8+6.25


(x+2.5)^2=14.25


x+2.5=√(14.25)


x=√(14.25) -2.5, x=-√(14.25)-2.5
