Robert Clive was the pioneer of the East India company's expansionist policy in India. He managed to establish a lucrative trade that took many wealthy people to England, besides being able to establish English dominance in the trading posts of that region, winning battles against the French and having a much smaller army.
He was a British officer and was primarily responsible for the supremacy and military control of the East India Company in Bengal. For these reasons, he is considered the pioneer of expansionist policies in this region.
