Answer:

John has 18 pieces of paper.

Larry has 32 pieces of paper.

Explanation:

Let
l be how many pieces of paper Larry has and
j be how many pieces of paper John has.

We get:

j+14=l

j+l=50

j+j+14=50\\\\2j+14=50

Subtract 14 from both sides

2j=36

Divide both sides by 2

j=18

John has 18 pieces of paper.

j+14=l\\\\18+14=l\\\\l=32

Larry has 32 pieces of paper.
