$x = 3.5 \\ solution \\ the \: chord \: of \: same \: length \: has \: same \\ distance \: from \: center \\ so \\ 3x + 1 = x + 8 \\ or \: 3x - x = 8 - 1 \\ or \: 2x = 7 \\ or \: x = (7)/(2) \\ x = 3.5 \\ hope \: it \: helps$
