The slope of AB is -2/5. Segments CD has endpoints at C(-5,3) and D(10,-3). Are AB and CD parallel, perpendicular or neither? Justify.

Explanation:

AB has the slope of -2/5

lets see what slope the line CD has:

  • points are (-5, 3) and (10, -3)
  • slope= m= (y2-y1)/(x2-x1)= (-3-3)/(10+5)= -6/15= -2/5

as we see AB and CD have same slope, therefore they are parallel
