Convert the problem into split up expressions.


(18)/(2)(x - 6)

Take both 6 and 18's most common factor here, 2, and divide by 2 to simplify.


(18)/(2) = 9\\\\(6)/(2) = 3

Cancel.

18 becomes 9

6 becomes 3

The equation turns into:


(9)/(x - 3)

note that because we, "canceled" 2, that also means it does not appear in the simplified form since it was a factor.
