Explanation:
4x^-2 – 3x^-1– 1 = 0
Let x^-1 = 1/x = y
4y^2 - 3y - 1 = 0
4y^2 - 4y + y - 1 = 0
(y - 1) (4y + 1) = 0
1. Root 1
y - 1 = 0
y = 1
1/x= 1
x = 1
2. Root 2
4y + 1 = 0
4y = -1
y = -1/4
1/x = - 1/4
x = -4
