Answer:

Pythagorean Theorem!!!!

Explanation:

So, in a right triangle, which is what you are dealing with right now, the square of the hypotenuse is equal to the sum of the squares of the legs.

Essentially:
a^(2)+b^(2)=c^(2) (a and b are legs, while c is the hypotenuse, the side opposite to the 90 degree angle)

So, we can just plug our side lengths into this, and find our third side!

(72)^(2)+x^(2)=(97)^(2)\\5184+x^(2) =9409\\x^(2)=4225\\x=65

Hmmm. This is what I got. The thing is though, it says simplest radical form, implying that I was supposed to get a different answer. Oh well.

Hope this helps!

Answer:

65

Explanation:

right angle triangle so:

a=??, b=72 and c=97

a^2+b^2=c^2

a=√c^2-b^2

a=√97^2-72^2 =65
