Dividing my dog’s age by 4 and adding 6 is the same as dividing my dog’s age by 8 and adding 8.

StartFraction x Over 4 EndFraction + 6 = StartFraction x Over 8 EndFraction + 8

16

Explanation:

a = age


  1. (a)/(4) + 6 = (a)/(8) + 8
  2. you will multiply by 8 now

  3. 2a + 48 = a + 64
  4. now move a's with a's and the numbers that don't have a variable with each other

  5. 2a - a = 64 - 48
  6. now subtract

  7. a = 16
