Given that 2cm is equal to 100 km on a real life scale, determine the distance of two towns that are 2.5cm apart on a real life scale.

Given: 2cm = 100km

Find: 2.5cm = ???km

Work:

2cm = 100km

100/2 = 50km

1cm = 50km

50 / 2 = 25km

.5 cm = 25km

Thus, 2.5cm = 100 + 25 km.

2.5cm = 125km

Therefore, the distance of the towns are 125km.
