For a going-out-of-business sale, a jewelry shop owner

marks all of the store's merchandise 50% off. The price
tag on a necklace indicates that it is an additional 15% off
the sale price. If the original price of the necklace was
$620, what will it cost after the discounts?

Answer:

$263.50

Explanation:

First step, discount the 50% that's on the whole store. You do this by multiplying the original price by the discount then subtracting that from the original price.

620*0.50=310

620-310=310

Then we take that additional 15% by doing the same exact thing but with 15% instead of 50%.

310*0.15=46.50\\310-46.50=263.50

That's the total with all the discounts $263.50

If there is something about the explanation that isn't clear or you don't understand then let me know, I can try to explain it better
