Hey ! there

Answer:

  • First number = 1

  • Second number = 5

Explanation:

In the question we are given that sum of two numbers is 6 , second number is three more than twice the first number .And We are asked to find the two numbers .

We are solving this question by assuming ,

  • First number as x

  • Second number as 2x + 3 ( Because in the question it is given that the second number is three more than twice the first number )

Solution : -

As question says that sum of two numbers is 6 that is :

  • First number + Second number = 6

Now , substituting value of first and second number which we have assumed above ,

\longmapsto \qquad \: x +2x + 3 = 6

Step 1 : Adding like terms on left side :

\longmapsto \qquad \:3x + 3 = 6

Step 2 : Subtracting with 3 on both sides :

\longmapsto \qquad \:3x + \cancel{3 }- \cancel{3 }= 6 - 3

On further calculating, We have :

\longmapsto \qquad \:3x = 3

Step 3 : Dividing with 3 on both sides :

\longmapsto \qquad \: \frac{ \cancel{3}x}{ \cancel{3} }= \cancel{ (3)/(3) }

On calculating further, We get :

\longmapsto \qquad \: \blue{\underline{\boxed{ \pink{\sf{x = 1}}}}}

We know that ,

  • x is our first number

Therefore , first number is 1 .

And ,

  • 2x + 3 is our second number . So ,

  • 2 ( 1 ) + 3

  • 2 + 3

  • 5

Therefore , second number is 5 .

Verifying : -

Now we are verifying our answer by adding both the numbers and equating it with 6 as it's given in question that sum of both the numbers is equal to 6 .

  • First Number + Second Number = 6

  • 1 + 5 = 6

  • 6 = 6

  • L.H.S = R.H.S

  • Hence, Verified .

Therefore, our answer is correct .
