6x + 5(2x + 7) = 9x + 5

Distribute

6x + 10x + 35 = 9x+5

Combine like terms

16x +35 = 9x +5

Subtract 9x from each side

16x + 35-9x = 9x-9x + 5

Subtract 35 from each side

7x+35 -35=5-35

7x = -30

Divide each side by 7

7x/7 = -30/7

x = -30/7
