I personally like to start by finding the y intercept first. When x is 0 y is 2

Then to find the actual slope, firstly the line is going in a negative way so the slope is negative. You then do rise over run and you get -1/2

The slope is y=-1/2 +2

Hope this helps!!!!

Answer:

f(x) = -1/2x + 2

Explanation:

f(x) = ax + b

x = 0 , y = 2

y = 0 , x = 4

a = (y'' - y')/(x'' - x')\\a= (2 - 0)/(0 - 4) \\a= (2)/(-4) = (-1)/(2)

0 = (-1)/(2) . 4 + b\\0 = -2 + b\\b = 2

f(x) = -1/2x + 2
