When I read it silently, I tend to skip some words and minor details of the passage, but still understand the picture of what is happening in the passage.

When I read it loud, I used a simple strategy, I had to stop at every punctuation, pronounce each word properly, and even re-read some of the text to make sure I understand each and every detail about the passage. Reading out loud made it easier for me to comprehend, to pay more attention, and even to remember the details of the passage afterwards.
