I believe it is actually 12 in^2

First you have to find the perimeter it is easy to just multiply the sidelength x 4 because it is square.

next you have to multiply the perimeter with the slant height

then you divide your answer by 2

So we can do 3*2/2 which is equal to 3. Thats area of the triangle. Then we multiply by 4 for all sides of a pyramid. 3*4 = 12. Lateral area means all sides of the figure not top and bottom, but we know that there is not a top, but there is a bottom. 12 is answer for lateral area

Answer is 12 not 16
