Number of shorts = 40

Number of t-shirt = 160

Explanation:

Let number of t-shirts = t

Let number of shorts = s

Price of each t-shirt = $5

Total price of t-shirts = 5t

Price of each shorts = $6

Total price of shorts = 6s

So,

5t+ 6s = 1,040...............Eq1

Given:

Number of t-shirt = 4 (number of shorts)

So, t = 4s ................Eq2

From Eq1 and Eq2

5t+ 6s = 1,040

5(4s) +6s = 1,040

20s + 6s = 1,040

26s = 1,040

Number of shorts = 40

Number of t-shirt = 4(number of shorts)

Number of t-shirt = 4(40)

Number of t-shirt = 160
