Answer: x = -18.75

-1/4x - 12 = x + 3

Add 12x from both sides to get
-1/4x = x + 15

Then minus x from both sides
-5/4x = 15

The divide by -5/4 to get
x = -18.75

Answer:

x = -12

Explanation:

Step 1: Add 1/4x to both sides

-(1)/(4)x - 12 = x + 3

-12 - (1)/(4)x + (1)/(4)x = x + 3 + (1)/(4)x

-12 = (5)/(4)x + 3

Step 2: Subtract 3 from both sides

-12 - 3 = (5)/(4)x + 3 - 3

-15 = (5)/(4)x

Step 3: Multiply both sides by 4/5

-15*(4)/(5)=(5)/(4)x * (4)/(5)

-12 = x

Answer:
x = -12
