When x = 8 and y = 6

= 2x - ( 4 + y )

Put the value of x and y ...

= 2 × 8 - 4 × 6

Multiply 2 and 8 and 4 and 6 ...

= 16 - 24

Subtract it

= - 8

Hence...the answer is -8 ....
