Answer:

Use a calculator or use long division. See long division below.

Explanation:

Use a calculator or use long division.

Long division:

------------------------------

4 | 1

4 does not go into 1, so add a decimal pace to 1.

0.

------------------------------

4 | 1.0

4 goes into 10 2 times.

0.2

------------------------------

4 | 1.0

- 8

--------------

2

There is a remainder, so bring down another 0.

0.2

------------------------------

4 | 1.00

- 8

--------------

20

4 goes into 20 5 times.

0.25

------------------------------

4 | 1.00

- 8

--------------

20

- 20

--------------

0

The remainder is zero.

1/4 = 0.25

Answer:

(1/4 x 1 ) = 0.25

or (1/4) x 1 = 0.25

Explanation:

We are doing the opposite to finding 25%

Which is 1/4 of 100%

We do this an opposite (not as inverse)

To find percentage increase as you can compare below.

or as percentage increase

230 x 0.25 (x 100) = 287.50

Even though we are not finding increase for 1/4 by changing it to decimal form, this practice does use the (x1) element in brackets and does identify the distribution.
