y = 8 - 5x

Explanation:

both equations shares the same gradient as they are parallel

from y= 9-5x, the gradient is -5

subst x = 0, y=8, and m= -5 into the y = mx + c to find the value of c

8 = (-5)(0) + c

c= 8

therefore the eqn is y = 8 - 5x
