The side lengths of a triangle are 6, 8 and 12. Is this a right triangle?

A. Yes, because 6 to the 2nd power + 8 to the 2nd power < 12 to the 2nd power.
B. No, because 6 + 8 ≠ 12.
C. Yes, because 6 to the 2nd power + 8 to the 2nd power = 12 to the 2nd power.
D. No, because 6 to the 2nd power + 8 to the 2nd power ≠ 12 to the 2nd power.

Answer:

No it's not. 6 to the 2nd power + 8 to the 2nd power ≠ 12 to the 2nd power

Explanation:

If you square the shorter lengths and add them together, they add up to one hundred

6^2 + 8^2 --> 38 + 64 = 100

Once you square 12 it equals 144

144 does not equal 100. There for it can't be a right triangle. To be a right triangle, it has to have a ratio pf 3: 4: 5.

Ex: 6: 8: 10, 12: 16: 20, etc.

Hope this helps!
