Was Thomas Paine right to say the "Europe and not England is the parent country of America"? Why should that concept be considered a factor for separation?

Answer: The Parent

-Colonists came from all over Europe, not just England

-A parent would treat their child in the same way England is treating the colonies

Seperation

-The way England (and most of Europe) was structured created an extremely oppressive society

-Americans fled from Europe in seek of a land of opportunity

-British rule would never allow for this. Britain isn't a loving mother, but a cruel monster. Colonists left for a reason, and they need to permanently separate
