Explanation:

3/4 ( b+s) = 31.50

where b is the original price of the blouse and s is the original price of the skirt

b = 18

3/4 ( 18+s) = 31.50

Multiply each side by 4/3

4/3 * 3/4 ( 18+s) = 31.50 *4/3

18+s =42

Subtract 18 from each side

18+s-18 = 42-18

s =24

The skirt was originally 24 dollars
