the area of triangle is gotten by 1/2bh

1/2 × 2 × 4 = 4.

base is 2cm because it has covered 2 grids while the height is the measure from the base to the tip of the triangle, which is 4cm.

area of square is L × L

2 by 2 = 4.

so, the two shapes have same area.
