calculate slope =

y2-y1 = -5- (-2) = -3

x2-x1 = 4 - 1 = 3

m (slope) = -3/3 = -1

using points (1,-2) for calculating y-intercept:

y = mx + b

-2 = -1(1) + b

-2 = -1 + b

-1 = b

b = -1
