x² + 5x - 36

  • First step is to find out the two numbers when multiplied results to 36 & when subtracted results to 5. Um..Let's think for a lil bit.....Yeah! you got it :) The numbers are 9 and 4!

---- x²+ ( 9 - 4)x - 36

  • Distribute x :

---- x² + 9x - 4x - 36

  • Take the common :

---- x ( x + 9 ) - 4 (x + 9 )

---- ( x - 4 ) ( x + 9 )

  • Yayyy! We got our answer :) The right answer is of Option C [ ( x - 4 ) ( x + 9 ) ]
