We are given function for the path coming out of the cannon.

We also given x is the horizontal distance from the cannon.

We need to explain, what f(x) represents there.

f(x) represents y-axis.

And y-axis also represents height.

Height represents a vertical distance.

Therefore, we could say f(x) represents vertical distance (height) from the cannon for x horizontal distance from the cannon.
