Answer: $124

Explanation:

Hi, to answer this question we have to write a system of equations:

8 x + 4 y = 176

3x + 15 y = 335

Cost = sum of products (number of fruits x price per unit)

Where x is the price per orange and y is the price per apple.

We have to multiply the first equation by 3 ; the second equation by 8; and subtract the first equation to the second:

24x +120y =2680

24 x +12y = 528

_______________

108y =2152

Solving for y

y = 2152/108

y= 20

Replacing y =20 in any equation:

8x + 4 (20)=176

8x+80=176

8x =176-80

8x =96

x =96/8

x=12

Finally we have to calculate how much would two oranges and five apples cost.

2x+5y = 2(12)+5(20)= 24+100= $124
