x = 21, y = 2

Explanation:

4x- 3y = 78....(1)

2x + 3y = 48 ...(2)

Adding eqiautions (1) and (2)

4x- 3y = 78

2x + 3y = 48

6x + 0 = 126....(Here y has been eliminated)

6x = 126


x= (126)/(6)\\\\</p><p>\therefore x = 21\\

Plugging x = 21 in equation (2) we find:

2 * 21 + 3y = 48

42 + 3y = 48

3y = 48 - 42

3y = 6


y= (6)/(3)\\\\</p><p>\therefore y = 2\\
