V + F = E + 2

Where:

V = Vertices

F = Faces

E = Edges

Hence, we have for a square pyramid;

V = 5 vertices (One at the peak, and four at the base edges)

F = 5 faces (The four lateral or side faces and the base)

E = 8 edges ( The four lateral edges and the four base edges)

Hence;

5 + 5 = 8 + 2 which proves Euler-Descartes formula.
