A contractor bought 44 boxes of nails at a price of $1 per box. Each box

contained contained 56 nails. If he distributed the nails to the 4 houses he
was building and made sure each house received the same number of
nails, how many nails would each house get?

616 nails

Explanation:

No. of nail box bought = 44

No. of nail in each box = 56.

Total no of nail in 44 box = No. of nail box bought * No. of nail in each box

= 44 * 56 = 2,464

These nails were distributed in 4 houses equally.

Let no. of nail distributed in 1 houses be x.

Thus, total nails distributed in 4 houses equally = 4x.

These 4x nail should be equal to Total no of nail in 44 box

4x = 2464

=> x = 2464/4 = 616

Thus, each house would get 616 nails.
