Answer:

The Federal Government decided to impose tax on domestic product. It was new to the people and was referred to as whiskey tax. The Farmers were not interested in the tax payment because they were had gotten used to distilling their surplus barley, wheat, corn and other fermented grain mixtures to make whiskey.

Their rebellion and refusal to pay the tax led to President Lincoln calling out the military forces to tackle the problem which led to the collapse of the rebellion.
