Jessi has 9 feet of blue fabric. She need one third of that amount in red fabric. The fabric store sells fabric by the yard. How much fabric does Jessie need to buy?

Given;

Jessi has 9 feet of blue fabric

b = 9 ft

She need one third of that amount in red fabric.

r = 1/3 × b

Substituting the value of b;

The amount of red fabric needed r is;

r = 1/3 × 9 = 3 ft

Since they sell in yards , we need to convert it to yards.

1 yard = 3 feets

Therefore,

r = 3 ft × 1/3 yard per ft

r = 1 yard
