The ratio to use here is Tan

This is because we have the adjacent and we want to calculate the opposite

Mathematically;

Tan of an angle = length of opposite/length of adjacent

Tan 40 = AC/30

AC = 30Tan 40 = 25.17 which is approximately 25 feet

The height of the pole is the length CE + AC

CE = BD = 6 ft since they are opposite sides of rectangle BCDE
