Even though many people prefare bottle water to tap water, it should known that water bottles which are made of recyclable polyethylene terephthalate plastics,however don't biodegrade they photodegrade, i.e they break down into smaller fragments over time leading to leaching chemicals into the environment and water bottling process releases 2.5 million tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere annually.The bottles end up in landfills which lead to serious environmental problems and it degrading process can release toxic contaminants into the air and water, leading to injuries to marine life from discarded bottles ; a detrimental effect on the environment.
