Marcky has three tables of different

lengths in his house. One has a length
of 4 1/2 feet, another has a length
of 4 feet, and a third has
length
of 2 1/2 feet. What is the length of
all three tables when pushed end
to end?

11 feet

Explanation:

First, convert all the mixed fractions to improper fractions in the a/b form.

4 1/2 becomes 9/2 and 2 1/2 becomes 5/2.

Adding 9/2 to 5/2 we get (9+5)/2, which is 14/2 and that can be simplified to 7.

Finally, adding 7 to 4 we get 11.

So, the sum of the length of all three tables is just 11 feet long.
