The second case is because a scientific notation regularly is written in the next form:

  • 350 + 2 x 104 = 558 = 5.58 x 10^2

I used the result (558) then ubicate the point in the units (5) and the rest are decimals, next I used 10 and the number of digits that I moved the point (2).
