Area of the figure = area of rectangle + 2 * area of a triangle

Area of rectangle:

length = 8 ft

Width = 5 ft

Area = length * width

= 8*5

= 40 sq ft

Area of triangle:

height (h) = 3 ft

Base b = 8 ft

Area = (1/2)*bh


=(1)/(2)*8*3\\\\=4*3

= 12 sq.ft

Area of the figure = 40 + 2 *12

= 40 + 24

= 64 sq ft
