Answer:

A= 288 yd

Explanation:

First step is to split the polygon into 3 rectangles. Once done, I want to deal with the rectangle on the left side, so I multiply 14 and 3 together. I got the 14 because on the other side of the polygon which has the same width is 14. Remember the formula for a rectangle is A=lw. 14 x 3 = 42. The rectangle has an area of 42 yd. Moving on to the bigger rectangle in the middle I can see that 26 yd is the whole length of the polygon, but not the middle rectangle. That's why to get the length for it I have to add the 3 yd and 4 yd together. This is because 3 and 4 are lengths. 3 + 4 = 7. Now I subtract it by 26 because I want to know the length of the middle rectangle. 26 - 7 = 19. The length of it is 19 yd. In order to find the width of the middle rectangle I subtract 14 by 4. I do this because 14 is the width of the whole polygon, but to know the width of the middle rectangle I take 4 and subtract it. 14 - 4 = 10. The width of it is 10 yd. Now multiply the length and the width of it. 19 x 10 = 190 yd. The right rectangle has a width of 14 yd. The length of it is 4 yd. Multiply them. 14 x 4 = 56 yd. The final step is to add all the rectangles areas together. 42 + 56 + 190 = 288 yd. The answer is 288 yd. Hope this helps!
