Two different sized triangles have a scale factor of 2:3. If the hypotenuse ( the longest side ) of the bigger triangle measures 24 inches, what is the length in inches of the hypotenuse of the smaller triangle? Can someone please help me with this question

The 3 part of the ratio represents 24 inches.

Dividing by 3 gives the value of one part of the ratio.

24 in ÷ 3 = 8 in ← value of 1 part of the ratio, thus

2 parts = 2 × 8 in = 16 in ← hypotenuse of smaller triangle
