What is the difference between cause in fact and proximate cause

Answer: The difference is cause in fact is straightforward so when someone veers into the wrong lane and an accident happens the driver who veered the car into the wrong lane is the cause in fact (actual cause). A proximate cause means "legal cause" or one that the law notices as the primary cause. For example when the driver veered out of the lane 2 other people in a different car got injured.
